Today's News

I'm too lazy to give Alex a title for my post

Today's topic; pirates! Great movie, bad game. Well I shouldn't say "bad" it just wasn't what I was expecting. Speaking of which, I hear that XIII's demo isn't living up to what it was supposed to. I don't have high-speed so I can't down load the demo but I can't imagine it being as bad as people say, also IT'S A DEMO, which means things that aren't as good as you thought they'd be will probably have a chance to change.

If you've tried to e-mail me using the link bellow than I'm afraid I have not and will not be able to receive e-mails to that address for about a week or so. If you really feel the need to e-mail me than I guess you'll have to wait. Sorry.

Yesterday I was talking to my friend who had just visited the site and he asked me "who actually writes the comic?" I naturally blurted out "I do" but then quickly realized I wasn't really sure. I usually find an idea the way you find a diamond; I pluck it out, make sure it's good enough then Alex polishes and cut it to become a shining gem of hilarity. That's pretty much it. Of course Alex holds the pen so if the comic originally called for him to get a brick in the face; I usually end up getting it.

I'm happy to announce that we have received over 3300 hits on our site! This actually means we will have to lower our resolution slightly to maintain our bandwidth restrictions. This also means we should be getting advertising soon. Hopefully.

I'm currently searching for and collecting the final pieces of the triforce in Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker. This is by far the most time consuming quest I've ever done in any Zelda game that I can remember. Also, if Tingle doesn't stop calling me "Mr. Fairy" I swear I'm going to have to find a way to kill him.

Ok, so a few weeks ago Alex told me that Nintendo has made demo disks, and now they're being given away along with a purchase of a new Gamecube. Now that's all fine and fucking dandy but I also have an Xbox and I've been getting demo disks for months now in the Xbox magazine. If Microsoft and Sony can make and distribute demo disks another way other than with a purchase of the system than why can't Nintendo? I mean not of everyone is going to opt for the demo, so why can't I buy one. I hate buying games that I've not at least tested, and my internet connection will not allow for an emulator to be downloaded. I think the Nintendo needs to get off their fucking asses and get me demo disks, perhaps delivered along with a Nintendo Power mag?

Oh and if you're wondering why we changed the color scheme a little it's because we were getting complaints that we were looking to much like Penny Arcade. Alex will probably have more on this topic later...

Well that's all the time I have today, don't forget to check out our goodies section for a very nice wallpaper and possibly a forum to come soon.

What Ronan doesn't want you to know

Well, not exactly.

First off, Ronan left the job of explaining today's comic up to me, so I will. You must understand that this is not some made up bullshit about pirates turning up in my living room... PIRATES ACTUALLY DID SHOW UP IN MY LIVING ROOM. In a manner of speaking. The pirate depicted is my brother, Mackenzie, who has, along with his friends, become a pirate. When Ronan first witnessed this, the following conversation ensued.

Next I'd like to say that I write the comics as well as Ronan, and his little diamond analogy was flawed. It's not true that Ronan makes sure his ideas are good enough before handing them over to me! Well not often anyways. Usually he's throwing comics at me like confetti. Meanwhile I'm the one to sort through it all. And while I'm on the subject of Ronan, maybe if I bring this out in public he'll listen to me: PROOF READ YOUR NEWS POSTS!

Ronan also mentioned our bandwidth consumption. Within the first five days we've used up about a gig... not that much I suppose, but after we go above our 50 gig/month limit they start charging as much as $8 a gig. To put that in perspective, that's more than I'm paying per month for hosting. So I realized the comics should be a significantly smaller resolution. But fear not! The difference will probably not even be noticeable. As for the advertising, we wont be getting any until the end of the month and since it'll be hosted on independent servers, the ads won't slow down the loading of our actual site. If we can make enough money to cover hosting charges I will be a happy man indeed.

About the goodies section: it will improve. I only put in that wallpaper to show that it's not a total scam. Soon it will be divided into a Downloads sections for wallpapers (I'm currently working on one with my brother, the pirate, who can draw a lot better than I can) and the like, a Forum and perhaps at a later date an art section (though not my own) The forum will be up as soon as I get around to it, which will probably be Tuesday (or for the Wednesday comic) since I get out of class at noon that day. I'll be sure to link to it from the home page so you can't miss it.

I won't talk about the change of colour scheme today, as we'll probably have a comic up about the problem which led to the change sometime next week. I might be changing the layout more, but we'll see. Don't forget that you can email me about this, the Goodies section or anything else you think would be helpful at alex@thedominosonline.com.

Cheers,

Alex
